Number of Papers at Pubmed.gov Covering the Terms Insulin Resistance, Insuline Sensitivity, and Glucose Resistance until November 2017

Insulin sensitivity: about 27,000

Glucose resistance: 25

This means that the phantom of insulin resistance has been honored since the first mention in 1927 with almost 1000 publications a year. The correct concept of insulin sensitivity, on the other hand, was investigated with about one third of the research effort. The key mechanism of glucose resistance in the cells was completely neglected.

On the contrary, insulin is also administered in intensified type 2 diabetes therapy. The aim is to lower blood sugar levels. However, taking into account the physiological protective mechanism of glucose resistance, the chronic administration of insulin in obesity is very questionable.
